How We Check Our Numbers
Last Updated: October 5, 2026
Where the figures come from
Every rate, bracket, and cap in our calculators comes from a law, circular, or wage order issued by the agency that sets it. Here is the basis for each tool:
| Calculator | Official basis |
|---|---|
| Income tax | TRAIN Law (RA 10963) graduated table in force since 2023: 0% up to ₱250,000 a year, then 15% / 20% / 25% / 30% / 35% bands. |
| SSS contributions | 15% of the Monthly Salary Credit (5% employee, 10% employer), MSC ₱5,000–₱35,000 for 2026. |
| SSS benefits | Social Security Act of 2018 (RA 11199). Benefits use the Regular SS salary credit capped at ₱20,000 (SSS Circular 2020-032); the funeral grant follows Circular 2023-009. |
| SSS LoanLite | SSS Circular No. 2026-005: eligibility, loan ceilings, interest, and fee caps. |
| PhilHealth | 5% premium (2.5% each side) on basic salary between the ₱10,000 floor and ₱100,000 ceiling. |
| Pag-IBIG | Employee share of 1% (salary up to ₱1,500) or 2%, and employer share of 2%, each capped at ₱200 a month. |
| Overtime, holiday, night differential | Labor Code multipliers as set out in the DOLE Handbook on Workers' Statutory Monetary Benefits. |
| Minimum wage | The regional wage order in force for each of the 17 regions. A signed order switches on by itself on its effective date (Philippine time); an enjoined order is not counted. |
| VAT | NIRC Sec. 106/108 at 12%, the ₱3,000,000 registration threshold, RA 11976 (Ease of Paying Taxes Act), and RR 8-2018 on when registration becomes mandatory. |
| Freelancer tax | 8% on gross receipts over ₱250,000 in place of graduated tax and 3% percentage tax, against the graduated option. |
How we keep them current
- Each rate lives in one place in our code, so when the SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, BIR, or a wage board changes it, the calculator and every page built on it change together.
- When a change is announced but not yet in force, we show it as upcoming instead of folding it into today's figure, because an announced rate isn't yet what your employer owes.
- When we revise a guide or post, it shows an Updated date next to the original publish date. Larger revisions also get a note on the page saying what changed.
Corrections log
When we find a calculation error, we fix it and record it here.

Our 2026 holidays guide listed 4 special non-working days. Proclamation No. 1006 has 8: it also adds Chinese New Year, Black Saturday, All Souls' Day and Christmas Eve. The guide also still showed both Eid holidays as not yet dated. We added all four days and the proclaimed Eid dates (March 20 and May 27).

Two blog posts on Wage Order NCR-28 disagreed on whether NCR-27 had taken effect. We merged them into one post with a dated timeline from DOLE and NWPC sources.

The minimum wage calculator showed Metro Manila at ₱755 under Wage Order NCR-27, which a Pasig court had blocked. The legal rate was still ₱695, so we were about ₱60 a day too high from early August. We corrected it and made the calculator switch to NCR-28's ₱755 on its effective date, September 26.

The SSS maternity calculator used the ₱35,000 contribution ceiling instead of the ₱20,000 Regular SS cap that benefits are computed on. A member earning ₱35,000 was shown ₱122,500 for a 105-day leave; the correct maximum is ₱70,000. All four SSS benefit calculators now share one capped helper so they can't drift apart again.
Estimates, not advice
Our results follow the official formulas, but your payslip can still differ, for example because of company allowances, a different day factor, or rounding in your employer's payroll system. Use our figures to check your numbers and to ask better questions, not as a replacement for your employer's computation or a CPA.
